Evergood Social Care are currently supporting our client based in Hampshire County Council in recruiting for an experienced and Qualified Approved Mental Health Professional
Qualified AMHP. The ideal candidate will undertake Mental Health Act assessments when required.
Task List for Community Based Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP)
In addition to the requirements of the social worker role profile – the following experience and/or tasks are required of the role:
Experience of working with and assessing the needs of clients with significant/serious mental health conditions.
Understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
To undertake the duties of an Approved Mental Health Professional as set out in the Mental Health Acts (1983 & 2007), and County Council policies and procedures
Experience of Court Work (Making legal representation - attending court at short notice if necessary, eg s135(1) warrants, displacement of nearest relative).
Co-ordinate complex decision-making processes regarding the legal and ethical aspects of detention under the Mental Health Act and ensure the safe admission to hospital or the provision of alternative care arrangements.
To provide follow-up support under the Mental Health Act eg Nearest Relative County Court Action; reports and attendance at Mental Health Review Tribunals; ensuring copies of reports appropriately disseminated; ensuring property and animals are secure.
Support, advise and mentor AMHP trainees and participate in AMHP Forum discussions/peer supervision
Experience of multi-disciplinary and/or joint working with NHS teams/colleagues.
