We are assisting an NHS Trust in the South East who are seeking a Consultant Neurologist to join their dynamic and forward-thinking Neurology Department who deliver high-quality care across both inpatient and outpatient settings as soon as possible. The successful applicant will play a central role in the ongoing management of patients with a wide range of neurological conditions.
The role is initially for one to three months but may well continue beyond.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will
- Provide a neurology service of the highest quality, which includes programmed activities for out- patient clinics and in-patient ward referrals
- Contribute to development of the neurology service to support the trust in ensuring provision of high quality clinical care.
- Develop further links and patterns of shared working between the Trust and other Trusts
- Work flexibly with colleagues to support the timely management of emergency and inpatients
- Participate in multi-disciplinary clinical meetings (MDT)
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential:
- Full MRCP (UK) or equivalent qualification
- Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC)
- Specialist Register for Neurology
- MBBS or equivalent
Desirable:
- A higher degree in medicine (e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent)
- Evidence of service improvement experience
Experience and Skills
Essential:
- Experience and training required for UK CCST in Neurology
- Good knowledge of the spectrum of neurological disease
- Neurological Examination skills
- Lumbar puncture skills
- Ability to communicate effectively to enable adequate communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues.
- Right to Work in the UK
Desirable
- Competent in CT & MRI brain, spine interpretation
- Evidence of audit participation
